📝 Introduction

Hello, dear East Texas Electronics client! 👋 We've just upgraded your computer with Windows 11, and we can't wait for you to experience it. This guide is designed to be super easy to follow, even if you're not tech-savvy. We'll help you switch from the default local account to your own Microsoft account and get you connected to OneDrive.

🚨 Note: The default local account username is User, and there's no password set.

 

🛠️ What You'll Need

• Your computer running the brand-new Windows 11 we installed for you 🖥️
• An existing Microsoft account or the details to create one 📧
• Internet access 🌐

🚀 Let's Get Started!

Step 1️⃣: Open Settings

1. Look for a button at the bottom-left corner of your screen. It should look like a little window made of four squares. That's the Start button!
2. Click on it, and then look for a gear-shaped icon ⚙️ that says Settings next to it. Click on that to open the Windows Settings app.

Step 2️⃣: Navigate to Accounts

1. In the Settings window, find and click on the option that says Accounts 👤.
2. Then click on Your info at the top of the list.

Step 3️⃣: Make the Switch

1. Under Your info, you'll see an option that says Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. Click on that 🖱️.
2. A new window will appear, asking for your Microsoft account details. If you don't have one, you can create one by clicking Create account 🆕.

Step 4️⃣: Microsoft Account Details

1. Type in your Microsoft email address and password 🔒.
2. Click Next ➡️.

Step 5️⃣: Verify It's You!

1. Microsoft will send a code to your email or phone 📱.
2. Type in the code and click Verify ✅.

Step 6️⃣: Optional Windows Hello PIN

1. You might see an option to set up a PIN for extra security 🔐.
2. Follow the on-screen steps to set up a PIN or skip this part.

Step 7️⃣: Confirm Local Account Info

1. You'll be asked for your current Windows local account password, there's no password, leave this blank 🚫.
2. Click Next ➡️.

Step 8️⃣: Seal the Deal

1. Review everything and click Switch 🔄.
2. Your computer will sign you out and then sign you back in with your Microsoft account 🔄.

Step 9️⃣: Connect to OneDrive

1. Once you're back, let's connect to OneDrive ☁️.
2. Find the OneDrive icon from the Start menu or at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
3. Sign in with your Microsoft account if it doesn't do it automatically.
4. Follow the steps to set up your OneDrive folders 📂.
